Melvin Edwards

VERSAILLES - Melvin "Lum" Edwards, 74, of Versailles died Thursday at his home.

Born Nov. 24, 1928, in Marion County, he was the son of the late Garnett and Margaret Gibson Edwards. He was a retired employee of Commonwealth Tire Co. and a member of Versailles United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor "Bell" Rogers Edwards; two sons, Mark and Joe Edwards, both of Versailles; a sister, Janet Pierce of Danville; a brother, Douglas Edwards of Perryville; and a granddaughter.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Duell Clark Funeral Home by the Rev. Coleman Howlett. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may go to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Versailles United Methodist Church.

Sue R. Purdom

SPRINGFIELD - Sue Russell Purdom, 92, of Springfield died Monday at Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Jan. 12, 1911, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late George and Lettie Best Russell. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and a 1929 graduate of Perryville High School. She was the widow of Robert L. Purdom.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Purdom of Perryville; two sisters, Margie Russell and Florence McRay, both of Springfield; four grandchildren; a stepgrandson; a great-grandchild; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carey & Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Bland Mason. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

LANCASTER - Services for Jackie Moberly Givens, 40, of Sugar Creek Road will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl Creager. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County.

She died Saturday at her home.

Pallbearers will be David Brown, Scott Griswold, Donald Perrin, Ronnie Weldon, Keith Brown and Chris Kelly.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to the American Cancer Society.

Clarence A. Keith

LANCASTER - Services for Clarence Anderson Keith Jr., 80, of Eastern Avenue will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Ernest Martin. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

He died Sunday at his home.

Born Jan. 15, 1923, in Scott County, he was the son of the late John W. and Hanna Deavers Keith. He was a retired employee of IBM Corp., a member of Bryantsville United Methodist Church and a Mason for 57 years.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Coulter Keith; two sons, Darrell L. Keith of Ana Cortes, Wash., and Clarence A. Keith Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Beverly A. Oliver of Brentwood, Tenn., and Beth Finney of Lexington; a sister, Ida L. Pittman of Midway; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Butch, Brandon and Brian Oliver, Dusty and Andy Keith, and Chaz Finney.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may go to Bryantsville United Methodist Church building fund or Heritage Hospice of Danville.

Boone Stidham

STANFORD - Services for Boone Stidham, 62, of Hustonville will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green River Pentecostal Church by Rick Naylor. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Saturday at his home.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Brown Jr., Ronald Lynn, Jason Coulter, Shane Yocum, Lindsey Yocum and Ersel Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Denis and Dennis Montooth, Cody Lynn and Lonnie Brown.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the church.

Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
