Thanks for supporting Casey Ag/Expo Center

August 05, 2003

Dear Editor:

The Casey County Agricultural and Education Fair Horse Show held July 25 and the Antique Tractor Pull held July 26 were successful beyond our expectations. We thought they would be great, and they turned out to be great. Thank you Casey County for your support. The many sponsors made the shows the highest quality, and we thank you for your contribution. Our sincere thanks goes to all of the trainers who so ably represented the horse industry with their beautifully trained horses. We also were impressed with the turnout for the Antique Tractor Pull. Lots of skillfully restored tractors were on hand and showed they still have what it takes to pull their loads.

The horse show and tractor pull could not have been held at the new Ag/Expo Center had it not been for the many volunteers and contributions from individuals and businesses. The Ag/Expo Center has been a beehive of activity the past few weeks that brought the arena from a pile of rocks and dirt to the beautiful show ring it is now. Support has come from so many we dare not try to name them all.

Just a few who I know contributed heavily were Jerry Hoskins, Johnnie Beard, Jay Goode and Sons, Marion Murphy, Arlen Sanders, Mike True, "Chubby" Baird, Judge-Executive Ronald Wright, Casey County magistrates, Casey County Conservation District Board, the Forestry Service, Kentucky Utilities, Hinkle Construction, Casey County Detention Center, Tarter Gate, Stevens Pipe and others such as the dozer operators, plumbers and builders. Thank you all for making our show the success it was. Casey County is fortunate to receive $225,000 in funding through the efforts of U.S. Reps. Ed Whitfield and Hal Rogers. Much can be accomplished with these funds. We invite the public to write the Fair Board concerning any suggestions you might have for future events. We would like to see the Ag/Expo Center grow into the facility it has the potential to be.
