Morehead State University: Sheyenne Adelle Durham of Stanford and Lori Kay Votaw of Danville among those students receiving a Regents Scholarship for the fall semester.

Durham is among those students receiving a Regents Scholarship for the fall semester.

Votaw, the daughter of Michael and Judy Votaw, is a graduate of Danville High School. She is a member of Youth Salute, National Honor Society, National Forensic League, church youth group and the senior high hand bell choir at her church. She is also a youth flower ministry leader.

Durham, the daughter of Bryan Durham, is a graduate of Lincoln County High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, has received the Pythagoras Award and was listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students."

To be eligible for the Regents Scholarship, applicants must be admitted to MSU as an entering freshman, have an admissions index of 500 or more and have a minimum ACT composite of 20.


Transylvania University: Caitlin Clark, a sophomore, is spending her summer studying abroad as part of the Kentucky Institute for International Studies program.

Clark will be study for five weeks in Madrid and Segovia, Spain. During the program, she has the opportunity to earn up to six credit hours and live with a Spanish speaking family. She also will enjoy famous locations such as the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace of Madrid and Old Castile. All students participating in this program must have college credit in the Spanish language and are expected to speak the language on excursions, during group meals and in all public places.

Clark, the daughter of Kathleen Clark of Danville and the late Jeff Clark, is a graduate of Boyle County High School.

University of Central Florida: Danielle Thomas, a 2003 graduate of Boyle County High School, has been awarded the Robert C. Byrd honor scholarship to attend University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Thomas is a member of Burnett Honors Congress and is a LEAD scholar, having served 10 hours of community service.

She is a psychology/pre-med major and is the daughter of Jamie Thomas and granddaughter of Juanita Hardgrove, both of Danville.|8/7/03***
