Child falls into well under construction:

LEITCHFIELD (AP) - The death of a 3-year-old child was under investigation today by state police and Grayson County authorities.

Raven Nicole Welch of Cub Run died Wednesday morning in a four-foot deep well under construction that was filled with water, Trooper Tom Walsh wrote in his report.

An autopsy was scheduled for today, according to Coroner Ronald Hudson.

No ruling on the death will be announced until the autopsy is complete, Hudson said.

The child's mother was painting in the front of her residence and the child was inside, Walsh said. When she went to check on her daughter, the girl was not there and she called neighbors to help search for her.
