I am pretending I am a young person facing today's decision about lifestyles - marriage, in particular. My dictionary defines marriage this way: "the legal union of a man and a woman as husband and wife."
The Bible does not discuss "same-sex" marriage, but there are numerous warnings about homosexuality, as in Leviticus 18:22; the decline and destruction of Sodom and Gommorah in Genesis 18 and 19. Numbers 25:9 reveals that 24,000 died in one day because of such immorality resulting in a plague (AIDS?). Warnings continue in the New Testament including Romans 1:26-32, 1st Corinthians 6:9-12 and 10:8; and Jude 1:9.
These warnings, compared with the historical accounts of Sodom and Gommorah, are believable.
If our dictionaries and our Bible are not convincing enough, how about the AIDS problem?
How responsible are we as parents? Are the many failed marriages and chaotic family life discouraging our children from legal marriages?
