Boyle falls to South Laurel

August 15, 2003

Boyle County lost its first match of the year as visiting South Laurel won the final two games.

The Rebels (2-1) won the first game 25-19, but the Cardinals rallied to take the final two games by scores of 25-19 and 15-8.

"South Laurel has a very strong team, and they should be a definite contender for our region," Boyle coach Dana Stigall said.

Stigall said she was pleased with the way her team played in the first game, saying the Rebels played "flawlessly," but flaws started showing up in the later games.

"The girls fought hard in the second and third games, but we just made too many errors," Stigall said.

Kate Edmiston led the team with seven kills and Rachel Staub had three. Meagan Lankford had four aces and Emily Rigney added three.

Boyle's next game is Tuesday night when it hosts Harrodsburg.
