Boyle County Conservation District News

August 19, 2003

Do you have sinkholes that need cleaning out? Boyle County is well-equipped to handle almost all of the garbage you have.

The county has four convenience centers that are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for holidays. They are in Perryville on U.S. 68, Danville on Gose Pike, Alum Springs on Ky. 300, and Mitchellsburg on Ky. 1856.

All of the centers take household and bulky garbage such as furniture. Gose Pike will take leaves and grass. Alum Springs will take glass, and Perryville will take scrap metal and fencing.

All centers will take aluminum, siding, copper, brass, electrical wire, batteries, heater cores, steel, radiators, wire and lead.

Used oil and batteries are accepted at NAPA, Auto Zone, and Advanced Auto Parts.

To get rid of pesticides and/or containers, call 1-800-205-6543.

Also, Boyle County has free dead animal removal by calling 1-800-633-5677.

If you have other items that need to be disposed of, contact the Boyle County Conservation District at (859) 238-7461, ext. 3, or Donna Fechter, solid waste coordinator, at 238-1116.
