Two indicted in Garrard courthouse burglary

LANCASTER - Two men accused of breaking into the Garrard County Courthouse in July have been indicted.

Denver Chris Smith, 36, and Jerry Glen Howe, 37, are charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking less than $300. They allegedly entered the courthouse July 15 or 16, took items worth less than $300 and damaged the building.

The indictment also states that Smith allegedly committed third-degree burglary, theft more than $300, and third-degree criminal mischief when he alone or in complicity with a juvenile unlawfully entered the Garrard County Attorney's office on July 16 or 17.
