Rita Dixon named new Casey County Junior Miss

LIBERTY - Rita Dixon was named the 2004 Casey County Junior Miss Saturday night. She is eligible to compete in the state Junior Miss Program in January.

First runner-up was Jessica Payton, and second runner-up was Malory Wesley.

Dixon received a $1,500 scholarship from the Casey Junior Miss Scholarship Fund, a 2004 medallion, tanning package from Selective Styles, year membership to Cundiff Wellness Center, and an arm bouquet from Casey County Florist.

A senior at Casey County High School, she is the daughter of Susan and James Dixon of Liberty. She plans to attend college and major in journalism.

Dixon tied with Payton for the interview, poise and talent awards and tied with Wesley for the fitness award.

Payton, daughter of Claud and Martha Wyatt, got a $750 cash scholarship and bouquet, and Wesley, daughter of Steve and Brenda Wesley, got a $300 cash scholarship.


Payton also was named the Spirit of Junior Miss and got a $100 cash scholarship from Keith and Tracy Emerson, and a silver charm from Double N Jewelry.

Brandy Thomas, daughter of Twyla and Ricky Thomas, and Jessica James, daughter of Brett and Martha James, got Be Your Best Self awards.

All of the preliminary winners received a silver award from A Friend's Place.
