Man killed in traffic accident south of Harrodsburg

One man was killed this morning in a traffic accident south of Harrodsburg at the intersection of U.S. 127 and the Harrodsburg bypass.

According to Mercer County Deputy Sheriff Chris Kehrt, the accident occurred at 5:51 a.m. when a car traveling south on U.S. 127 attempted to turn left onto the bypass and was struck by a truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Kehrt said the driver of the car got out of his vehicle and was then struck by another vehicle traveling north. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles involved were treated for injuries at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg and Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Kehrt said the names of the three people involved were not released pending notification of next of kin.
