Clark speaking in Stanford

STANFORD - Dr. Thomas D. Clark will be the principal speaker at the annual luncheon of The Foundation For Historic McCormack Meetinghouse at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Kentucky Depot Restaurant.

The luncheon is open to the public. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling (859) 239-8961.

Clark, 100, taught at the University of Kentucky for some 50 years before returning as professor emeritus of history in 1968. He has been a visiting professor at major universities here and abroad. He has authored more than 32 books, and his "A History of Kentucky" remains a classic.

The Kentucky General Assembly named him "Historian Laureate For Life."

Clark has spent a lifetime making Kentuckians aware of their heritage and has been the major factor in efforts to collect and preserve history at the Department of Libraries and Archives and the Kentucky Historic Center in Frankfort.
