August 28, 2003

STANFORD - A Lincoln County grand jury recently indicted three people on charges of first-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a police search in April reportedly found cocaine, methamphetamine and firearms in two residents in Hustonville.

Police obtained a search warrant after a bag of cocaine fell from the pocket of a man during a traffic stop.

Shane L. King, 25, 4020 Angel Ridge Road King was stopped on Ky. 78 after he drove his truck into a ditch, according to police. State vehicle enforcement officer Shawn Hines observed a set of scales on the floorboard during the traffic stop and when King was walked to the cruiser, a bag of cocaine fell from his pocket. When questioned, King told police he had bought the narcotics from Rebecca R. Laswell. Laswell, 45, 4020 Angle Ridge Road was arrested after police allegedly found cocaine and a crack pipe at her house.

Police said they discovered a purse belonging to Jowanna L. Clarkson, 33, 4545 South Fork Road.

In Clarkson's purse police reportedly found cash, two pipes and a small baggy containing white powder. When police executed a search warrant of her residence, they uncovered what was suspected to be cocaine, drug paraphernalia and multiple types of narcotic pills in an improper container.

Bond was set at $2,500 for each offender, which they posted the same day.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Ron Luster was the grand jury witness.
