Liberty to celebrate 'Arts in the City'

LIBERTY - An all-day event, "Arts in the City," to show off arts and crafts by local people and to open the doors to the new City Hall on Middleburg Street Saturday will conclude with performances by Casey County high and middle school students.

Events begin at 10 a.m. for an art show and dedication of the new City Hall. Performances at 12:30 p.m. will feature singer Iva Pennington and at 3 p.m. the Bill Lester Band. An array of arts and crafts will be for sale at City Hall and on the lawn throughout the day.

A performance at 7:30 p.m. by the middle and high school dancers also will feature singing by Charissa Gosser and McKinsey Campbell.

More than 30 students will be in the drama, "Up the Down Staircase" at 8 p.m. at Casey County Middle School. The two-act play is a program sponsored by the 21st Century Learning Program and directed by Coordinator Rita Sweeney. Admission is free.
