CAMP KENNEDY - Just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Ky. 152 bridge over Herrington Lake is open once again.
David Thacker, spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said repairs to the bridge deck are finished. "Last winter, the deck was falling through," he said.
Kennedy Bridge, which spans the lake between Garrard and Mercer counties, had been closed since Aug. 3.
Intech Contracting of Lexington was awarded the contract to fix the bridge under a cost of $318,958. The company was given 30 days to finish the project, and Thacker said work was finished five or six days ahead of schedule.
