LIBERTY - A 39-year-old Liberty man faces burglary and theft charges after he allegedly broke into Wesley Drug Store Tuesday night or early Wednesday and took an undetermined amount of prescription drugs, police said.
Timothy Bates was arrested at 6 p.m. Wednesday at his residence on two counts of third-degree burglary and one count of theft by deception over $300, said Trooper Brandon Curlis. Additional charges are pending.
Bates reportedly gained entrance to the store by knocking a hole in a wall in the hallway of the Jerry Foster apartment building on Middleburg Street, said Curlis. The suspect apparently threw a rock through a window in front of the store to gain entrance but could not get through because of a card cabinet that blocked his way.
Bates will be charged concerning the damage to the two buildings.
Police Chief Ron Whited said the drugs taken included a quantity of Oxycontin. Most of the drugs were recovered.
