Casey student injured in car crash:

LIBERTY - A Casey County High School student suffered injuries in a one-vehicle traffic accident this morning, police said.

Gary L. Shearer, 18, of 429 Cherry Lane, Liberty, suffered arm and back injuries when his car turned over on East Ky. 70 at 8:07 a.m. as he was reportedly on his way to school, said Police Chief Ron Whited.

Shearer was transported to Casey County Hospital by Casey County Emergency Medical Service. The accident occurred as Shearer was driving east and lost control of his vehicle, Whited said.

Longerberger baskets reported stolen:

Danville police are investigating the theft of seven Longerberger baskets and two pictures Aug. 26 at 209 South St. Linda Spoonamore reported the theft. There were no signs of forced entry. Officer Sharon Johnson is investigating.


Three-vehicle accident sends two to hospital:

Three vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction accident at 3:51 p.m. Friday on the Danville bypass between Lebanon and Perryville roads.

Police said a 1999 Chevrolet driven by Joshua D. Chester, 17, Springfield, was traveling south when it struck the rear of a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Dianne Marcum, 17, 1997 Faulkner's Lane, that was slowing for traffic.

Marcum's vehicle then struck the rear of a 2000 Ford Econoline driven by Quincey A. Wells, 30, Hamilton, Ohio, that was stopped in traffic at the intersection of the bypass and Perryville Road.

Chester told police he looked down in his vehicle and when he looked up again, Marcum's vehicle was slowing down and he could not stop in time. Marcum told police she was almost at a stop when her car was struck. Wells and Marcum were both treated by Boyle County Emergency Medical Service and transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Ladders reported stolen in Danville:

Danville police are investigating the theft of several ladders at 4 p.m. Tuesday at 339 Cowan St.

Dwayne Brown of Danville reported the theft. Detective Bob Williamson said witnesses reported seeing a dark blue, older model pickup truck back into the driveway at the time of the theft. A white female in her late 20s and a white male, age unknown, got out of the truck and loaded the stolen equipment into the back of the truck.

Williamson asks anyone with information to call the police department at (859) 238-1224.

Man charged with illegal alcohol possession:

LIBERTY - An Elkhorn man was arrested Aug. 28 on a charge of illegal transportation of alcoholic beverages in a dry territory, according to court records.

Jonathon L. Noel, 46, of 2306 Bass Ridge Road was arrested after a traffic stop on Red Hill Road 9 miles west of here. He also was charged with not having a license plate illuminated, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession and use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a prescription drug not in original container.

Noel allegedly had a bottle with 30 hydrocodone pills, a Schedule 3 controlled substance, and seven cases of beer. He is under a $500 bond.|9/3/03***
