Danville City Commissioners have submitted a list of qualities they would like to have in the new city manager. The selection committee plans to begin reviewing applications at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Members of the committee want to interview and do background checks on those that survive the first round of checks.
Here are the qualities they listed:
* Mayor John W.D. Bowling: people sensitive, outgoing, communication skills, understands budgets, innovative and experience in conflict resolution.
* Commissioner Terry Crowley: strong financial and budget experience; knowledge of municipal planning, procedure and law; managerial experience with a diverse workforce; team and consensus builder skills; knowledge of city manager structure and commitment to operate under this structure; strong demeanor with ability to be decisive; visionary with long-term goals; strong people and problem solving skills; prior experience with municipal entity; and track record for community involvement and activities in professional organizations.
* Commissioner Ryan Owens: innovative, honest, articulate, efficient, tactful, organized, sincere, fair, objective, economically diverse in different areas such as bonds or budgets, knowledgeable about taxes, communicates well, makes sound decisions and interacts well with community leaders.
