Several police vehicles were seen at the Michael Hays property in Forkland today. Uniformed officers walked around the yard, house and barn with dogs.
Others stood on the front porch and were seen walking in and out of the house. Black sport utility vehicles with police lights on the dashboard traveled on the road near Minor's Branch.
Hays was expected to be in Odon, Ind., on Sept. 17 for the trial of William Miller, of Lancaster, who is charged with attempted murder after he told Indiana police that he shot Hays April 24 at a Shell Mart in Odon. Hays owns a farm there.
The trial has been postponed, according to the Daviess County Clerk's Office this morning. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Oct. 14 and a new date for the trial will be set.
