Lincoln golf team improves to 12-0

The Lincoln County boys improved to 12-0 by beating East Jessamine and Mercer County on Monday at Stanford.

David Grigson shot 40 at Dix River Country Club to lead Lincoln to a team score of 164.

Aaron Anderson and Craig Noland each shot 41 for the Patriots, Taylor Hafley and Gatlin Greer each shot 42 and Chris Carter shot 44.

Scores for East Jessamine and Mercer were not reported.


Russell County 153, Boyle County 202, Somerset 212 - At Danville, Boyle finished second among three teams at Old Bridge Golf Club.

"I'm very proud of my girls," Boyle coach Arin Leber said. "Russell is one of the best teams in the state, and Somerset also has a good team."


Katie Layfield led Boyle at 42. Amber Baker shot 50, Stephanie Elks shot 54, Carolann Buchanan shot 56, Emily Bryant shot 64 and Catherine Rowland shot 68.

Russell's Jessica Robertson and Amanda Henry shared the low score of the match at 37. Krista Burton shot 39 for Russell, last year's state runner-up, Beth Cooper shot 40 and April Emerson shot 42.

For Somerset, Whitney Casada shot 46, Riley Zimmerman shot 51, Andrea Richardson shot 57 and McKenzie Price and Whitney Woodrum each shot 58.
