HARRODSBURG - Melissa Clark remains in serious condition today at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington after she was wounded in a shooting here Monday afternoon.
Clark had just entered a room at Stone Manor Motel when her estranged husband, Scott Clark, entered and shot her several times, shot Thomas Hurst II once and then turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead by Mercer County Coroner C. David "Sonny" Ransdell, who listed the cause as a single gunshot to the chest.
When Scott Clark entered Room 108, he was carrying the Clarks' five-year-old son, Harrodsburg Police Chief Ernie Kelty said Tuesday, and the child witnessed the shootings. He is staying with family members, police said.
Hurst escaped the room and went to the motel office to call police. Melissa Clark left the room after the shooting and collapsed on the pavement in front of the rooms.
