How can anyone be surprised that George Bush has finally appealed for international assistance in solving the problems that he created in Iraq? Thoughtful persons throughout the world predicted the outcome of the pointless, unilateral, "bring 'em on" attitude of the Bush administration.
Now Bush tells the American people that he needs $87 billion to extricate us from this quagmire. He asks for this when we face record deficits and ever-increasing job losses.
A small fraction of the $87 billion would go a long way to ease the troubles of those in Junction City who just learned that after many years of employment their jobs at Penn Ventilator are gone.
