The Centre College women won and the men beat Berea for the first time in the Centre Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Admiral Stadium.
Centre freshman Eileen Schilling set a new course record with a time of 19 minutes, 3 seconds, eclipsing the old record of 19:06 from the 2001 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference meet.
"The conference winner ran a 19:06, and that meet is seven weeks from now," Centre coach Lisa Owens said. "Eileen is just getting into good shape, and her times are improving week after week. By the time the conference meet rolls around, I can't imagine what she'll be running."
But it wasn't just Schilling. Centre women finished in the top 20 to outpoint Shawnee State 38-74. Sophomores Lauren Arnold and Kristie Kachler were sixth and eighth, respectively.
