Two local theater organizations, one specializing in theater arts training for young people and the other a flagship community arts organization, will join forces to produce "Bah! Humbug!," a musical adaptation of Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol."
Arts for Kids, ETC received a grant based on the project's merits - supporting artistic partnerships that draw upon the strengths of the participating organizations for the greater benefit of the community at large, and including professional artists in the creative process. Locally based theater artist Rebecca Ryland, who adapted the book for "Bah! Humbug!," published by Pioneer Drama Service Inc., will act as acting coach and consultant on the project, which is being done in collaboration with West T. Hill Community Theatre.
"Over the years, Arts for Kids, ETC has initiated and developed many partnerships with groups throughout the community and surrounding region," says Ryland, who also founded and directs the Arts for Kids program. "We have been fortunate to receive Kentucky Arts Council grants in the past for such projects and are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with West T. Hill."
