FORKLAND - The investigation into a barn fire last week on property owned by Michael Hays of Gravel Switch remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police arson units.
Sgt. Steve Owen said no determination has been made as to whether or not the fire was arson, and the investigation is continuing.
Boyle County Fire Chief Bud Sexton said his department has been cooperating with KSP arson investigators, but he is not aware of any results of the investigation. "We haven't received a report from (KSP)," he said today.
The barn, located on property leased to Lester Smothers and owned by Hays, is on Ky. 243 at Forkland near the Marion County line. Gravel Switch firefighters responded to a report the barn was on fire Thursday, and arson investigators visited the scene Thursday and Friday, Sexton said.
