September 16, 2003

SCIENCE HILL - A Lincoln County man was killed Monday morning after his Ford pickup was reportedly struck by a truck on U.S. 27, state police said.

Roy J. Rice, 83, of Singleton School Road, Eubank, was pronounced dead at the scene by Pulaski County Coroner Richard New after the 7: 54 a.m. accident.

According to the sheriff's report, Ralph W. Hall, 38, of Ferguson was driving his 1997 Volvo semi truck northbound on U.S. 27, without a trailer when he struck Rice's truck.

Northbound traffic had been stopped for a vehicle making a left hand turn and Hall was unable to stop his semi. He lost control and crossed into the southbound lane, where he hit the Rice vehicle and ran into the median.
