I have just finished reading an article in your paper concerning Congressman Ernie Fletcher working to receive $1.75 million in federal funding for a Danville parking garage. The closing line of the article in particular drew my attention. It was a quote stating that "Congressman Fletcher should be commended." I am left wondering for what he should be commended. Is a parking garage what now qualifies as what was quoted as "vision and leadership?" I wonder if the congressman has given any thought to who will park at this garage. It certainly won't be the people who, thanks to Representative Fletcher's record of votes on health care, cannot afford to come to Danville to visit local doctors or Ephraim McDowell hospital except under dire circumstances. Nor will the garage be filled by those who no longer come to Danville to work at any of the more than 1,500 jobs than Boyle County has lost since Ernie Fletcher and George W. Bush have been in office.
