Picture a town where Centre students and Danville residents alike can eat a nice dinner, view a movie, and walk through local retail shops without ever stepping inside their car.
Filled with beautiful historic buildings, lined with trees and wide sidewalks, downtown Danville truly embodies the all-American town. However, one thing is missing: life. Banks, offices, and empty buildings are killing a town filled with potential.
With the soon-to-be-vacant Save-A-Lot property, another question faces the residents of Danville. My suggestion is this: Knock down the exisiting building. Build a center filled with restaurants, retail shops for the young and old, add a locally run convenience store, perhaps a theater, too.
