A teen-ager died and a child was seriously injured in a head-on collision at 6:35 a.m. today on Ky. 300, 1 1/2 miles west of Alum Springs.
Daniel Dean Raley, 19, of 13644 Lebanon Road, suffered head and neck injuries, said Boyle County Sheriff's Deputy Jim Wilcher. Raley was pronounced dead at the scene by Boyle County Coroner James Ramey.
Raley was eastbound on Ky. 300 when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle and hit it head-on, Wilcher said. Teresa Pumphrey, 38, of 120 McDermot Drive in Mitchellsburg was the other driver.
Pumphrey and her 7-year-old daughter, Megan West, of the same address, were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Megan was airlifted to the University of Kentucky with abdominal injuries, Wilcher said.
