WAYNESBURG - Maudie Fields, 82, of Waynesburg, died today at Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Monroe Fields. Arrangements are incomplete at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home.

STANFORD - Verla M. Roberts Garner, 87, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Crab Orchard, died Friday. Arrangements are incomplete at Fox Funeral Home.


Josh Grider

LIBERTY - Josh Grider, 13, of Liberty, died Sunday at Casey County Hospital. He was the son of Tracy Shell Grider of Liberty and Jeffrey Grider. Arrangements are incomplete at Bartle Funeral Home.

Kenneth Lynn

LIBERTY - Kenneth Lynn, 56, of Liberty, died Saturday at his home.

Born Oct. 3, 1946, in Liberty, he was the son of Bessie A. Johnson Lynn of Liberty and the late Charles K. Lynn. He was a former truck driver.

Survivors include two daughters, Nannette Elmore of Middleburg, and Amanda Jo Lynn of Ohio; five sisters, Jane Troutt of Mount Carmel, Ill., Donna Perry of Erlanger, Nancy Burton of Columbia, Gretta Haney of Cincinnati, and Judy Brown of Franklin, Ind.; three brothers, Richard Lynn of Nancy, Robert Lynn of Liberty, and John Lynn of Dunnville.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bartle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Lucille I. Sims

HARRODSBURG - Lucille Isham Sims, 85, of College Street, died Saturday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born May 28, 1918, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ada Hendren Isham.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Wendell W. Sims of Coxes Creek and Bruce C. Sims of Mackville; two daughters, Alissa J. Adams of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Nancy L. Blacketer of New Albany, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Kelly Baker and Carl Blacketer. Burial will be in Battle Cemetery, Washington County.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Darrel Baker, Shirley Yeaste, Granville Moore, W. Connie Isham, Larry Isham and Freddy Bottoms.

Richard W. Smith

MORELAND - Richard Wayne Smith, 62, of Moreland, died Saturday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington.

Born Aug. 12, 1941, in Mount Salem, he was the son of Ruby Vincent Smith of Mount Salem and the late Arnold "Cotton" Smith. He was a bus driver for the Lincoln County schools and owned and operated Smith Hauling Co. He was a member of Moreland Christian Church.

Other survivors include his wife, Betty Benedict Smith of Moreland; a daughter, Jeannie G. Hurst of Lancaster; two stepdaughters, Donna Martin of Lexington and Karen Brown of Pee Wee Valley; a sister, Jeannie Norris of Lexington; a brother, Gary Smith of New Salem; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moreland Christian Church by the Revs. David Smith and Don Burton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Coffey, Larry Dunn, Bucky Elliott, Paul Jeffries, Phillip Hafley and Jimmy Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Dale Smith, Elwood Brown, Chuck Mortimore, Elwood Randolph, Johnny Reed, Dale Reed and Jimmy Cooper.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the church.

Sandra L. Horn

Services for Sandra Lynn "Bo" Horn, 48, of Wells Landing Road, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston Pruitt by the Rev. Randy Bates. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 2, 1954, in Oneida, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Claude and Delores Jones Terry. She was an employee of Nurse Registry in Lancaster, and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Michael L. Horn; three sons, Shea Horn and Chris Horn, both of Danville, and Sean Horn of Lancaster; two sisters, Marsha Cotton of Oneida, Tenn., and Linda Smith of Lebanon, Ohio; three brothers, Perry Terry, Eddie Terry and Wade Terry, all of Oneida; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alex Pemberton, David Collins, Perry Terry, Colby Sultzbach, Chris Adams and Charlie McCanley.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Rex D. Edwards Jr.

Services for Rex Dunlap Edwards Jr., 59, of Rolling Hills, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Beningfield. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

He died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Joe Hutchison, Harold Harmon, Kenny Young, Nels Hunstad, Bill Johnson, Joe McDaniel, Steve Bertram and Johnny Durham.

Honorary pallbearers are members of John Pruitt Sunday School Class.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to Centenary United Methodist Church.

Bessie Sharpensteen

STANFORD - Services for Bessie Sharpensteen, 91, of Floral Hills, Mich., formerly of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Friday at Hilton Convalescent Nursing Home in Ferndale, Mich.

Born Aug. 30, 1912, in Oneida, she was the daughter of the late Blev and Cora Dezoun McCollum. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church and the widow of Lee Sharpensteen.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Singleton of Detroit, Mich., and Bill Singleton of Wetherford, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.
