Brian "Scotty" Sexton, deputy chief for the Danville Fire Department, who served as its training officer, has retired from duty.
Assistant Chief Woody Ball said Sexton retired this week after 20 years of service.
"Officially, today (Tuesday) is his last day, but he had some vacation time accrued and is not on duty," said Ball.
Ball said he would be handling Sexton's training duties on a temporary basis. The city will begin advertising for the open position later this week.
