LANCASTER - A retired United Methodist Church minister could become the newest member of the Lancaster City Council.
Monday night, Mayor Billy Moss told council members that the Rev. Walter "Pete" Arnold was outgoing council member Delmer Warren's recommendation to replace him. Warren submitted his letter of resignation last week because of a move to Harrodsburg. The council unanimously accepted the resignation.
Moss has the authority to replace council members, but he said he wanted the full council's input. "I want you to concur in these things," he told the council. "I have no problems with Pete Arnold."
Moss said that he was considering one other person. "I told him that the council may decide on Delmer's recommendation. Chief (Ken) Adams talked to another person, but he said he'd rather not serve."
