FRANKFORT - A member of the Lincoln County Board of Education has been elected to the board of directors of the largest organization of elected officials in Kentucky.
Tom Blankenship of Crab Orchard will serve a two-year term as Central Kentucky Region chairman of the Kentucky School Boards Association.
He will represent school board members from the Boyle, Garrard and Mercer county districts, and Burgin, Danville and Harrodsburg independent systems along with Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Lee, Madison, Montgomery, Nicholas, Powell, Robertson, Rockcastle, Scott and Woodford county districts and the Berea, Frankfort, and Paris independent systems on the association's governing board.
Blankenship has served on the Lincoln County school board since 2001 and is the current chairman.
He actually is in his 19th year of school board service, previously having been elected to the Lincoln County board from 1977-1993.
