Two people injured in

Danville bypass accident

A two-car accident Thursday resulted in possible injuries to the driver of one car and a passenger in the second, police said.

Patricia Chambers, 53, Parksville, attempted to turn left into K-Mart parking lot from Danville bypass in her 1999 Ford Explorer when her vehicle was struck by a westbound 2002 Mazda driven by Robby D. Mitchell, 35, Crab Orchard, according to a police report.

Mitchell told police he attempted to dodge Chambers' vehicle in the intersection but was unable. Chambers told police she did not know what color the traffic light was when she entered the intersection.

Chambers and Rodney W. Mitchell, 37, Brodhead, suffered possible injuries but refused transport to a medical facility. Both told police they would go to the hospital on their own to be examined. Officer Joedy Gilliland was the investigating officer.
