PERRYVILLE - A short meeting of the Perryville City Council Thursday evening produced a new council member and a new fire chief.
Larry Cox, a resident of Perryville for 13 years, took the oath of office from Mayor Bruce Richardson at the beginning of the meeting.
Cox replaces Deborah Kleckner, who resigned last month.
Cox has been an employee of Matsushita Home Appliance Company for more than 32 years. He and his wife, Shelia, have three children.
Anthony Young was appointed Perryville fire chief, replacing Woody Ball, who resigned in September.
"Anthony has been an active member of the fire department for a long, long time," said Richardson.
Young is also employed at Hitachi in Harrodsburg.
