LIBERTY - Casey County fought back from a 5-0 deficit in the second game after losing the first one and held on to defeat Boyle County in the first round of the 42nd District Tournament on Monday.
Boyle won the first game 25-19 and led 5-0 in the second before Boyle coach Dana Stigall said things started going wrong.
"We came out real strong and then things just started to not go our way," Stigall said. "We had some calls not go our way and the game ended up being a very close one."
Casey won the second game 28-26, then kept the momentum and won the third game 15-10.
Rachel Staub had 12 kills and Erica Shell added seven for Boyle. Stigall said Bruna Lozano and Meagan Lankfort had "great sets and great defense," but Stigall said she wished her team had been more offensive-minded late in the match.
