Hall, Frauenhoffer lead Boyle to win

October 08, 2003

Boyle County got four goals from Sarah Hall and seven assists from Joanna Frauenhoffer in a 9-0 win over Bryan Station Tuesday at Danville.

Lydia Hignite also scored three times for Boyle (7-6-1), which held the Defenders (0-15) without a shot in the game.

"I was worried because Bryan Station has struggled a lot and I was worried that we would have a letdown," Boyle coach Brian Deem said. "But the girls answered the call, did their jobs and took care of business."

It was the third game this season that Hall has scored four times in a game, and Deem said her interactions with Frauenhoffer on the field contribute to that.

"Those two have really started to mesh well," Deem said. "They're understanding things, understanding roles. People are keying on Sarah so Joanna is doing all she can to make herself a threat in the box.

"While she's doing that, defenses are having to also respect Joanna and her scoring ability, which is allowing Sarah to get free and Joanna is just playing wonderful balls when the defense collapses on her."

Marianna Richardson and Kelsey Arnett each scored once for Boyle as the Rebels had 33 shots in the game.

Deem said his team is the underdog in next week's 28th District Tournament at Danville despite being the defending champions, but that the Rebels are working hard to make a good showing.

"We're not expected to win, we're not even expected to get out of our first game," Deem said. "Our girls aren't trying to do anything special, we're just preparing to go out and compete."
