Garness Christopher Edwards, 78, of Highfield Road, died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Roy and Nora Belle Perkins Edwards. He was retired from Edwards and Webb Construction Co., a 1945 graduate of Forkland High School and a member of the Hedgeville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hafley Gray Edwards, two daughters, Carolyn Stipe of Danville and Darlene Edwards; two sons, Patrick Edwards and Cecil Edwards; four sisters, Dica Warren of Perryville, Sadie Simpson and Etta Bryant, both of Danville, and Dorothy Preston of Mitchellsburg; one brother, Roy Edwards of Merrit Island, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Elder Cemetery in Casey County with the Rev. Don Garland officiating.

Visitation is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.


Lowell Johns

OAHU, Hawaii - Lowell Johns, 64, formerly of Junction City, died Sept. 14 in Waianae, Oahu, Hawaii.

He was the son of the late Thomas and Stella Johns.

Survivors include four sons, Allen Johns, Steve Johns and Robert Johns, all of Nicholasville, and Lowell T. Johns of Hawaii; four daughters, Christine Hurt of Savannah, Tenn., Donna Martin, Diane Johns and Linda Johns, all of Hawaii; an adopted daughter, Shirleen; four brothers, Grover Johns of Corinth, Miss., Donald Johns of Costa Mesa, Calif., Bobby Johns of Saucier, Miss., and R. Anthony Johns of Ingleside, Texas; three sisters; Mary Brogan of Oxnard, Calif., Ella Manning of Boerne, Texas, and Lucille Durham of Louisville; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an adopted granddaughter; and an adopted great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Lexington.

Mary E. Mount

Mary Elizabeth Mount, 98, died Monday at the Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born May 29, 1905, in Franklin, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Charles Montgomery and Harriet "Ruby" Bowden Mount. She was a secretary for State Farm Insurance for many years and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin.

Survivors include her nephew, Dr. C. Eric Mount Jr. of Danville.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Franklin by the Rev. Marcia Mount Shoop and C. Eric Mount.

Memorials may go to Williamson County Humane Society or Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.

Emma A. Smith

Emma A. Smith, 56, of Lebanon died Wednesday in Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. Arrangements are incomplete at Stith Funeral Home.

Danny L. Carpenter

LEXINGTON - Danny L. Carpenter, 59, of Delcamp Drive, Lexington, died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Born in Danville, he was the son of Louise Carpenter and the late Alonzo Carpenter. He served in the Marine Corps and was a member of Maddoxtown Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Thomas Carpenter; two daughters, Gilda Carpenter and Rochelle Thomas; a son, Daniel Carpenter Jr.; four sisters, Rena Dobson, Mary M. Carpenter, Sarah George and Phyllis Hollander; and four grandchildren.

Services were today at the O.T. Hughes & Sons Mortuary in Lexington by the Rev. John C. Travis. Burial will be in Maddoxtown Cemetery.

Barbara Hinderer

LANCASTER - Barbara Hinderer, 60, of Cole Road, died Wednesday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born Jan 5, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, she is the daughter of Gertrude Robertson McClary of Worthington, Ohio, and the late David L. McClary. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Henderer of Lancaster, two daughters, Traci Cole of Lancaster, and Deborah Sexton of New Castle, Ind.; two sons, Rick Henderer of Wooster, Ohio, and Randy Henderer of Opelika, Ala.; one sister, Lovetta Bishop of Worthington, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

The body will be cremated. Contributions suggested to Desiree Henderer in care of Traci Cole, 534 Cole Road, Lancaster 40444.

Steven P. McCrady

HARRODSBURG - Steven Paul McCrady, 49, of Midway, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday in Midway.

Born April 11, 1954, in Maquoketa, Iowa, he was the son of Marian Hawn McCrady of Iowa, and the late Paul McCrady. He was a thoroughbred horse farm manager for Waterford Farms in Midway.

Other survivors include his wife, Freda Anderson McCrady; three sons, Benjamin McCrady of Lexington, and Colton and Conner McCrady, both of Midway; a daughter, Melissa McCrady of Lexington; a brother, Robert McCrady of Iowa; and a sister, Barbara Waters of Missouri.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Brackie Willoughby.

Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Royce F. Robertson

RUSSELL SPRINGS - Royce Felton Robertson, 87, of Russell Springs, died Monday in Somerset.

He was a retired Air Force veteran and a member of the Duo County Telephone Board.
