ASHLAND - Kelli Warner of Casey County finished in a tie for 17th place Wednesday in her final appearance at the Girls State Golf Tournament.
Warner shot 167 in the 36-hole tournament at Bellefonte Country Club to finish 26 strokes behind champion Marci Turner of Monroe County.
The Casey senior completed the first round Wednesday morning with an 82 - she was unable to finish Tuesday due to darkness - then shot 85 over the final 18 holes.
Lauren Scholl of Pulaski County, a former teammate of Warner's at Casey, tied for third place at 76-79-155.
Russell County, the runaway winner of the 8th Region that also contains Casey and other area teams, won its first state championship in any sport with a team score of 662, beating Russell by 47 strokes.
