City manager interviews set

Eight candidates for Danville City Manager will be interviewed by the screening committee Oct. 28-31. The City Commission gave the committee a $2,000 budget for the applicants lodging, transportation, meals and expenses. The committee is expected to give commissioners a final selection of candidates after these interviews.

Tour of London planned

LANCASTER - A Garrard County teacher is planning a trip to London, England, in April.

Nikki Carter will lead the London Theater Tour, which is open to anyone over 18 years old. The trip will include two evenings of West End Theatre performances, and guests will visit backstage, attend workshops and tour the city.

The trip is April 2-9 and leaves from Louisville.

Fire department sponsors haunted house

LIBERTY - Brush Creek Fire Department will sponsor a haunted house in an old theater setting.

The "Old Haunted Kentuckian Theatre" on Hustonville Street will open at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24, 25 and 31 and Nov. 1. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. All children need to be accompanied by an adult.

'Trunk-or-Treat' at the Stanford Cruise-in

STANFORD - A "Trunk-or-Treat" will be 6-9 p.m. Friday on Main Street as part of the Stanford Cruise-in. Cruisers may bring treats for kids in their trunk. Costumes will be judged for the funniest or most original for kids and adults.

Women's club to host dinner

HARRODSBURG - The Anna Elliott Bohon Women's Club will hold a spaghetti dinner, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 26 at Lions Park Community Center. Proceeds will benefit Mercer County Relay for Life and the Mercer/Boyle Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Tickets are $5 per adult and $3 per child under 10. Menu includes salad, spaghetti, bread, dessert and drink. Take out orders are available as well as delivery to factories with advance orders. Tickets may be purchased from any Anna Elliott Bohon Women's Club member or picked up at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, T.
