MOUNT VERNON - The trial of businessman Tommy Owens of Stanford has been postponed until Jan. 27 in Rockcastle Circuit Court.
Owens is being tried on charges that he assaulted two Stanford police officers in February 2002, after police came to his house on a domestic complaint.
His trial was moved to Rockcastle Circuit Court at the request of prosecutors, who said an impartial jury could not be found in Lincoln County.
The postponement this week was requested by Owens' lawyer, Jerry Cox. According to the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, Cox was unable to attend the trial, set for Tuesday, due to a previous engagement out of town.
