LIBERTY - A 4-year-old child suffered a head wound Thursday evening, and a 23-year-old man has been charged, state police said.
State and local police were called to the Casey County Hospital emergency room at 6:47 p.m. where they found the child had been shot in the forehead with a BB gun. The BB was lodged in the child's head, according to a report by city police. The child was flown to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
The name of the child was not released.
David L. Coffman of Ky. 49, Liberty, was arrested at Harper Valley Trail Court off East Ky. 70 and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly intentionally shooting the child, according to a report by Trooper Brandon Curlis.
The incident is under investigation by Curlis and Liberty Police Department.
