LANCASTER - The Christian Appalachian Project has named Bill Mills president of the eastern Kentucky-based service organization.
Mills has been assistant vice president of manufacturing at Hitachi Automotive Products in Harrodsburg for 12 years.
CAP board Chairman Jerome O'Daniel announced the hiring Thursday.
CAP is "excited and honored to bring someone of Bill's caliber on board and is looking forward to working with him to serve the needs of those in Appalachia," the organization said.
A native of Pineville, Mills is a 1985 graduate of Pineville High School and holds a bachelor of arts degree in English, a minor in public relations and a master's in manufacturing management from Eastern Kentucky University.
Mills is active in several local community service and religious organizations in Mercer County. He is a deacon at Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church and currently serves as vice president of Gideons International Camp Mercer County. He has also served as president of Faith Seekers Building Bridges, a Christian, teen-focused non-profit organization.
