EMRMC employees attend meeting

Thirty members from the three hospital auxiliaries that are part of the Ephraim McDowell Health system attended a fall meeting on Oct.1. The meeting of the Kentucky Hospita Association's Fall Auxiliary Volunteer Institute was held at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. Volunteers represented the auxiliaries at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford and Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs.

Linda Tillman, director of volunteer services at the three hospitals, also attended.

The fall meeting was held for the Bluegrass/Cumberland hospitals in the Kentucky Hospital Association. A total of 15 hospitals, represented by 102 volunteers and directors of volunteer services, participated.

One of the speakers at the meeting was Kathy Simpson, a Danville resident and member of the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She ipresented a program titled "You Asked For It."


Chili supper set at Dixville

DIXVILLE - The Dixville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a chili supper and auction 5 p.m. Oct. 25 at 2470 New Dixville Road. The dinner will include chili and dessert, or hot dog, potato chips and dessert. Seconds are free.

Best Sound Around will provide entertainment. Cost: adults, $4; under 12, $2. The auction will include a 1952 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4; a Pacer water pump with a Briggs and Stratton motor; 150- gallon water tank; and a 2-inch water pump. Proceeds will go toward a thermal imaging camera.

McKinney to host

pig roast

McKinney Community Pig Roast - 5-7 p.m. Oct. 25 at McKinney Depot Pavilion. All-you-can-eat pork dinner and local gospel music. Adults, $6, children 6-11-years-old, $3, and children under 5 are free. Proceeds go toward the beautification of McKinney Elementary School.


Boyle Board of Education - 7 p.m. Thursday at Boyle County High School library. Items on the agenda include a construction report and bids for a new bus.

Liberty City Council - 5 p.m. Monday. Agenda items o include an executive session to discuss personnel and pending litigation, the second readings of the Peddler Ordinance and the ordinance relating to the 2003 property tax rate, first reading of an ordinance relating to the Economic Development authority resolution for 2003 bond facade funds from Renaissance Kentucky. Council will also discuss water and gas taps. |10/15/03***
