LANCASTER - A 17-year-old could be tried as an adult on capital murder charges after he was indicted by a Garrard County grand jury.
Jonathan Dyer, of 523 Harmon's Lick Road, Crab Orchard, was arrested along with Danny Dwight Poff, 22, of Carmen's Spur in Liberty, in July in connection with the June 19 death of Burdette Earls, 65, and beating of Sandra Jernigan.
Earls died from a blow to the head from a large rock, according to the Fayette County coroner's office. Officials have not commented on the relationship between Earls and Jernigan.
Along with capital murder, Dyer is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence and two counts of first-degree robbery for allegedly breaking into Earls' home on Harmon's Lick Road in Garrard County.
