In response to the letter by Mr. Cooney, I agree on all of his points and I believe his numbers to be in line with every other statistic I have heard on the subject.
What those on the left tend to leave out of this subject is: Just what is the cut off for that top 10 percent of the wealthiest people? That number is a combined total household income of a whopping $93,000. That's right folks. If you make $93,000 or more total household income you are by definition "rich." The left would also have you believe that the bottom percentage of wage earners who pay little to no income taxes deserve refunds (earned income credit) and tax cuts.
You should ask yourselves; Who deserves the tax cuts? Those top10 percent who are paying nearly 65 percent (2002 numbers, and remember, make a combined income of about $93,000) of the total income taxes in this country, or the bottom 50 percent who pay nearly 4 percent of the total income taxes?
