Lost in all of the hype surrounding this year's partisan statewide races is a non-partisan race of much importance. Judge Larry VanMeter is running for a seat on the Kentucky Court of Appeals from the Fifth District, Division 1, which includes Boyle, Mercer and other Central Kentucky counties.
He has been a distrct judge and circuit judge and also has served on the Fayette County Family Court Task Force. He believes strongly that even as a sitting judge, he has a responsibility to remain active in community affairs which for him includes the Lexington Youth Soccer Association, Eastern Little League and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
A native of Winchester and current resident of Lexington, Judge VanMeter is an honors graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. He was in private practicve until he became a district court judge in 1994.
