The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce and Danville-Boyle County-KSD Community Education program, along with the 21st Century Community Learning Centers serving Boyle County and Danville Independent Schools, received awards from the Kentucky Community Education Association at its fall conference in Louisville.
The chamber received the Outstanding Organization Award for its "Design for the Future" mentoring initiative serving Boyle County and Bate middle schools. Students meet in pairs with business mentors for a nine-week period and participate in a range of activities designed to introduce them to the world of business.
"The chamber is extremely pleased to have been selected for this award," said Executive Director Don Vizi. "It is only through the dedication of our mentors and the help of the school systems that this program has been an overwhelming success. We look forward to expanding the program in the next semester and getting more students involved with the business community. The chamber's business community cares about the young people in the community."
