Brian Cooney has had many letters published in The Advocate-Messenger, most of which have been unquestioned by your readers. As with any American, he has the freedom to express his opinion, however, in an effort to be politically correct, he appears to be logistically incorrect. I believe he is a college professor and would expect his statistics to be more explicit and accurate. Even those below poverty level will receive child care credits in dollars though they pay no taxes.
He describes our president by saying, "Presumably, he saw himself as an embodiment of American decency and compassion." He then proceeded to overwhelm at least some of the readers with unrelated statistics to prove that George W. Bush is nothing of the kind and then stated, "He is instead the servant of a wealthy ruling class ... ." Comparing household wealth to tax cuts is like comparing apples and oranges. All of the figures are irrelevant based on this political jargon! Only income and taxes relate to each other.
