It is true that the wealthy do not need tax relief. A hundred thousand dollars or more a year is more than enough to live comfortably.
Unfortunately, many tend to conclude that because some have more than enough money, we should help ourselves to some of it, as apparently Brian Cooney did in his letter to the editor. At the same time, it is also true that almost all Americans have more than they need. Does Mr. Cooney propose we take his television or computer just because he doesn't need them?
Has it occurred to no one that the money people make is theirs? Does anyone honestly think (other than the more extreme socialists) that it would be a good thing for the government to seize whatever people don't need? Whatever happened to the idea that theft was wrong?
