It is sad to see how many people were misled by the Republican Party's lies and obfuscation during this year's election. The right-wing madness that is serving to impoverish and isolate this country seems to be continuing, and will now strike us hard at the local level. For a preview of what these conservative fanatics will do to destroy Kentucky, let us consider what they already have done to damage the national economy.
Since George W. Bush occupied the White House in the judicial coup of 2000, 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost, and there is no economic recovery in sight. Three million more Americans are living in poverty. Nine million people are looking for work and cannot find it. The budget surplus has been turned into a $500 billion deficit. The national debt is now so large that we will spend $2.8 trillion on interest payments alone during the next 10 years. Republican politicians have stolen $159 billion from the Social Security Trust Fund this year alone. They have stolen $6 billion from education while demanding that teachers do more with considerably less. They have even stolen $100 billion from emergency services funding.
